Despite the large presence of the shipyard in town, Kittery and Kittery Point have maintained a small town feel from the time they were incorporated until the present day.  People who have grown up here, as well as people who have set down roots here, will verify what a close-knit community it still is.  Here is a photo of a fanciful float from a parade that traveled through the center of Wallingford Square.  The photo is probably from the early 1900s.
